Private Investigator News: Connecticut Medical Malpractice Cases Missing From State Website

"Five years ago, Hartford obstetrician Peter J. Doelger faced a record $36 million malpractice verdict after a delayed Caesarean section left a baby with cerebral palsy, brain damage and blindness.

A year later, Norwich surgeon Gerald Fabry was hit with a $2 million verdict for failing to control bleeding in a patient known to have poor clotting capacity.

And Dr. Ian Cohen of Waterbury has lost or settled at least four malpractice suits in the last seven years.

But in public profiles maintained by the state Department of Public Health, all three doctors appear to have spotless malpractice records, as do scores of other physicians who have paid their patients for medical procedures gone awry."
