This came across my desk by way of
ResourceShelf. The Federal Trade Commission presented prepared remarks on March 10 to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. The FTC Chairman (as she identified herself), Deborah Platt Majoras spoke on the topic of data brokers. I knew you'd be surprised. She gives a synopsis of the types of information data aggregators retain and who has access to the information under FCRA and GLB. Majoras makes one curious inference that I've seen elsewhere. She suggests that credit card numbers are available among the non-public information held by data brokers. This is flat out incorrect. Is this your interpretation of her comment?
