They don't make as much money, only $200-350 an hour, as they did in their former jobs, but the trade off makes it all worthwhile... An exemption in the New York State General Business Law [as in California law -B&P 7522(e)] allows attorneys to conduct private investigations. There is no special training offered to attorneys venturing into PI work but you can be sure it won't be long before law school and MCLE seminars appear. More
